A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

A quintessential Easter manicure features the famous bunny who gives eggs and joy to children on Easter Sunday. You might be wondering why a rabbit lays eggs, the answer lies in the pagan tradition. The whole story stems from the goddess Eostre. Representing spring, the divinity is also called Ostara, hence the word Easter in English and German (Ostern). Legend has it that Eostre turned the small bird resting on her arm into a rabbit to amuse the children she was surrounded by. The latter did not completely lose its abilities and continued to lay eggs to cheer up the little humans. The bird, however, was not happy with its transformation, the children realised this and asked the goddess to restore it to its original appearance. Eostre, exhausted by winter, had to wait until spring to regain her strength for a new spell. With the return of the warm season, the deity turned the rabbit back into a bird, resurrecting it just as in the Christian tradition.
